Frequently Asked Questions

These are just a few tips - contact us 0117 379 2862 or drop in @ The Park for more details.

Hanging baskets
The most important thing is that it looks nice to you.  There are no hard and fast rules.  Take a photo of any you like to use for first attempts.
You must water hanging baskets at least once a day - twice if it's sunny.  This still matters even if it's been raining as hanging baskets are often sheltered by walls and dense foliage cuts down the amount of rain that gets through to the soil.

Allotments
Grow your own vegetables - apart from fabulous tasting food it's a great way to keep fit and meet people.  More and more women are taking allotments so it's no longer just older men although many of them have huge experience which they're happy to share.  Try this link to  the BBC page about growing your own vegetables.
Contact Bristol City Council for details of how to get an allotment.
If you're new to allotments Buried Treasure have set up courses with each student having a small 'allotment' for 10 weeks @ The Park.  All equipment is supplied so there's no reason not to try it out.
There are 3 sessions every Tuesday:

  •  9.30 - 11.00 am
  • 12.00 -  2.30 pm
  •  3.00 -  5.00 pm
